Lincolnshire-Prairie View School District 103
Parent-Teacher Organization
The Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) of District 103 is a volunteer-based non-profit organization focused on:
- Promoting an environment in which every student has the opportunity to grow intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically.
- Promoting a close relationship between the home and the school, so that parents, guardians, teachers, school staff, and school administrators may cooperate in the education and enrichment of our students.
- Stimulating community interest in and encouraging support for our schools through fundraising efforts.
Volunteers Needed for the Daniel Wright Zero Waste Program
This is the 2nd year of our Zero Waste program. Our school is making every effort to divert food waste and recyclables away from the landfill, to composting and recycling facilities. This is our commitment towards a circular economy!
We need help in the Daniel Wright lunchroom to guide our students to discard only food waste in compost bin and only recyclables in the recycling bin. Contamination of these bins results in extra work for our custodian staff and the possibility of the material being landfilled (wasted) if it is heavily contaminated.
Thank you for your consideration in helping our students being stewards of the environment. Once you sign up, you will receive more information on how to assist in the lunchroom.

Why Get Involved

"Two major studies from the 1990s and 2000s showed the positive effect parent involvement has on student achievement and other success factors. They were so influential that researchers today still reference them frequently. A more recent study—published in 2012 by researchers at North Carolina State University, Brigham Young University, and the University of California, Irvine—reinforced these earlier studies and found that family involvement has a greater effect on positive academic performance than does the quality of the school building. And it’s not just students who are positively affected; parents, teachers, and schools as a whole also experience benefits."

How to Get Involved
Interested in becoming a PTO Member?
You only need one membership per family regardless of the number of children you have in the district.
You only need one membership per family regardless of the number of children you have in the district.
The sustainability of the numerous PTO programs and events, focused on making our children's learning experience fun as well as educational, can only be achieved with the assistance of monetary support and devoted volunteers. Whether you choose to help us financially, either through membership or other fundraisers, or graciously volunteer your spare time and talents to our initiatives, your involvement directly benefits our children and schools in the district and is greatly appreciated!
Thank you for your support! PLEASE NOTE: A D103 PTO Membership is required to fulfil the roles of Executive and Committee Board Members as well as Room Parents. |
